AutismFulton County Nonprofits Announce Event for Families Experiencing Autism

The November event is a community collaboration hosted by Auturity and Special Needs Siblings.

Atlanta, GA, Nov. 6 th , 2023 – “Autism Unity in the Community” is meant to empower families experiencing autism. Cosponsored by local nonprofits Auturity and Special Needs Siblings, the event will take place on November 17 from 5-8 p.m. at the Salvation Army Ray & Joan KROC Corps Community Center, in Atlanta’s Pittsburgh and Mechanicsville communities.

Many students enrolled in Atlanta Public Schools (APS) have been touched by autism. According to the Georgia Department of Education’s Student Enrollment by Disability Report, APS currently has:

*944 students with autism spectrum disorder

*535 students with a mild or moderate intellectual disability

*499 students with a significant developmental delay

The celebratory event will bring Fulton County families experiencing autism together—helping them foster connections and gain the resources they need to excel. Parents and caregivers must be present for the duration of the event.
